Compared to the outgoing model, the 2024 GMC Acadia has grown considerably in size. The fully redesigned model is 10.6 inches longer and 3.2 inches taller, while the wheelbase has grown by 8.4 inches. The benefit of the Acadia’s larger body is that it has three rows of roomy seats.

The Acadia offers spacious seating for up to eight people and there really isn’t a bad seat in the SUV. Passengers sitting in the second row get 41.5 inches of legroom, while those sitting in the third row get 32 inches of legroom. GMC provides three seatbelts in the third row, but fitting three people in the back is a squeeze because of the lack of shoulder room. Additionally, while adults will be happy sitting in the back, it will have to be for short trips, as the floor’s positioning results in an uncomfortable knees-up seating position.

The downside of the Acadia’s larger body is that it feels like a large SUV on the road. It can be difficult to drive and park on tight roads.

Does The 2024 GMC Acadia Have A Lot Of Cargo Space?

The 2024 GMC Acadia has a lot more cargo capacity than the outgoing model. Compared to last year’s Acadia, the 2024 model has 36% more cargo space behind the second row and approximately 80% more cargo space behind the third row. We were expecting big things from the 2024 GMC Acadia’s new turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Unlike the previous-gen model, the new Acadia is only available with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. While these figures are improvements over the old V6 engine, the SUV doesn’t feel sprightly in a straight line as its power figures would suggest.

Is The 2024 GMC Acadia Efficient?

The 2024 GMC Acadia isn’t the most efficient SUV in the class. The Acadia excels with three rows of spacious seats, a large cargo area, and well-equipped trims, but it costs more than rivals, has lethargic engine performance, and feels like a large SUV that’s hard to drive on the road. And, if you do want a midsize SUV with a generous amount of interior space, what’s wrong with the cheaper Chevrolet Traverse?

The Toyota Grand Highlander is a great midsize SUV. It has three rows of roomy seats, a large cargo area, a cabin that looks and feels upscale on higher trims, and intuitive tech features. Toyota offers the Grand Highlander with an available hybrid powertrain that has up to 362 hp and brings quick acceleration.

For an upscale feel on a budget, the Mazda CX-90 is a great choice. It may not have the same roomy seats or large cargo area as the Acadia, but it has a premium interior, enjoyable driving dynamics, and silky smooth six-cylinder engines. The CX-90 comes with a 48-volt hybrid system and offers up to 340 hp in its sportier S trims. Mazda offers the CX-90 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain for shoppers who are looking for an electrified model.
